Interstate Delivers Toys and Holiday Cheer to Over 186 Families in the Washington DC Community

SPRINGFIELD, VA—Interstate Worldwide Relocation Services, a premier provider of relocation management, transportation, and logistics management solutions, is proud to carry on its tradition of delivering toys to the Barry Farm community in Washington DC on Christmas Eve. For the past 19 years, Interstate, with world headquarters in Springfield, Virginia, has worked hand-in-hand with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots team to help generate excitement and joy in hundreds of families. On the morning of December 24, 2009, Interstate volunteers enthusiastically delivered more than 2,500 toys and gifts to over 186 families and 800 children in the Barry Farm Community.

Throughout the month of December, Interstate collected toys for the Toys for Tots program at all three of its DC area facilities. Interstate also supported the overall Toys for Tots effort by allowing other collection facilities in the DC area to utilize some of its trailers for collection and storage of toys. Lt. Sean Egan of the DC Fire and EMS Department, who coordinated this year’s collection efforts among the DC Fire and Rescue departments, stated, “Interstate has been a long standing supporter of the Toys for Tots campaign and a partner with the regional fire departments. We have all benefited from the generosity of the Interstate team and we could not have achieved our goals for this year without their support.”

Interstate’s ties to the Barry Farm community run deep. The first Interstate warehouse in DC was built near Barry Farm. Interstate’s founder, Arthur E. Morrissette, also grew up in the area. Interstate is now in its third generation of Morrissette family ownership. Speaking on behalf of the family, Interstate President Bud Morrissette stated, “We look forward to this event every year. It’s an opportunity for us to support our local community and to be grateful for the success we have achieved over the years.” Morrissette added, “It is wonderful to see people continuing to give generously to this effort, despite the down economy. There is nothing more gratifying than to see a child’s face light up when receiving a gift at Christmas time. That is truly what the season is all about.”
